venues

Our spaces are where stories come to life.

Detroit Puppet Company provides inclusive performance spaces that bring together members of our community and artists from around the country. Our venues are neighborhood spaces that are transformed into performance laboratories where creativity thrives.

Puppetry Theater & Laboratory

Our indoor venue—a renovated Detroit bungalow—provides a space for intimate performances as well as an experimental creative lab where many of our works grow from small idea to larger than life size!

Neighborhood Impact

Why this work is important.

As an organization that operates within a residential neighborhood, it is our goal to ensure long-term residents have the access to, resources of, and equity in shared community spaces. We use our spaces and work to open community dialogue through art and storytelling.

Community Outreach

We take a proactive role within Detroit and Hamtramck, working with local representatives and organizations, to provide a collaborative, inclusive space that serves community needs. Besides our seasonal programming, Detroit Puppet Company’s spaces are used for community meetings, neighborhood gatherings and public greenspace.

Neighborhood Stabilization & Economic Growth

At Detroit Puppet Company, we hope to exemplify how art can be a fiscal generator, using the performing arts to promote stabilization and economic development in our community.

Access to Art

We strive to provide access to the performing arts across economic and cultural divides, working with our neighbors and community members on the curation and development of free public events, like our Outdoor Summer Series. We also invite nationally recognized artists to the neighborhood to share touring works and engage with Detroit artists.
